WSU professor's passion for science seen in paintings, garden

Dr. Vivian Mathews, the first woman accepted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison\'s medical school and a former faculty member at Wayne State University, died from heart failure Friday, June 16, in St. Clair Shores. She was 95. Both Dr. Mathews and her husband, Willis, served as faculty members at Wayne State. She was a pharmacology professor and Willis was a biology professor.
